1. About these terms

These terms apply to your use of periodica.ca (the "site"). Periodica is operated by Botanique Care Ltd., 685 Pacific Blvd, Suite 1509, Vancouver, BC V6B 0R4, Canada. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Periodica and Botanique Care Ltd.

By using the site, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. Our Privacy Policy (periodica.ca/policies/privacy-policy) explains how we handle personal information.

Anyone may read the site. Our forms take an email address only from people 14 or older. Registering interest through "Get involved" is for people 18 or older.

2. What the site offers today

Periodica is a reading room for period care; the shop opens later. Today the site offers:

• the Reading Room: articles about period care;
• the Quiet Corner: small tools to rest with, such as a breathing lamp, a puzzle, room sound and a drawing pad;
• kind notes: short notes that readers leave for the next reader;
• the Request Desk, the Contact page and "Tell the Editor";
• the newsletter, once a month.

Everything on the site today is free. Nothing is sold on the site yet: there are no products, accounts or checkout. Terms of sale will be added to these terms before the shop opens.

The site runs on Shopify, which hosts it and processes some information as our Privacy Policy describes.

3. Health information

Everything in the Reading Room, or anywhere else on the site, is general information, not medical advice. The Editor is not a healthcare provider. For your own health, talk to a healthcare provider, and follow the label and instructions of any product you use. In an emergency, call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number. For a health question that is not an emergency, you can also call the health line of your province or territory.

We list our sources and work to keep information accurate, but information changes and mistakes can happen.

4. Products and brands we mention

Mentioning a product type or a brand is not an endorsement, and it is not a recommendation for you. Maker pages are cited as sources for their own instructions; a citation is not an endorsement. Makers are responsible for their own products, labels and claims.

Periodica may sell products from brands cited on the site. That doesn't change what we write. Botanique Care Ltd. operates Periodica and intends to sell its own Botanique products on Periodica when they exist.

5. What you send us: requests, messages and questions

Through the Request Desk you can ask for a product, suggest a brand or vendor, a topic for the Reading Room, an idea for the Quiet Corner, a way we could be more inclusive, or a community initiative, or tell us something else. You can also write to us through the Contact page or "Tell the Editor".

Please do not send:

• health details, yours or anyone's;
• anything that identifies another person, such as a name or contact details;
• anything unlawful.

What you send stays yours. We count requests and use the counts to decide what we sell, write, add and explore. We may use what you wrote, without your name, to help decide what the Reading Room writes next. We never quote what you wrote without asking you first, and we never tell a brand, a vendor or an organization who suggested it.

A request is not a promise that we will stock a product, work with a brand or write about a topic, and we cannot say when.

6. Kind notes

In the Quiet Corner you can leave a short note, of up to 140 characters, for other readers. A person reads every note before it appears. Your note stays yours. By sending it, you give Periodica permission, free of charge and without your name, to publish it on the site, with the sign-off you chose and with spelling corrected if needed. We may decide not to publish a note, and we may take any note down at any time.

You can ask us to take your note down at any time, with "Report this note" or by writing to us. We will take it down without asking who you are, and our permission to publish it ends then.

Please don't include anyone's name or contact details, places, health details, advice, or products or brands. Notes are from readers: they are not Periodica's views or advice.

7. The newsletter

The newsletter is free. It brings new articles and news from the shop, once a month. You must be 14 or older to subscribe. We email you to confirm, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every newsletter.

8. Things you make or save in the Quiet Corner

A drawing you make in the Quiet Corner is yours. Cards, pictures and anything else the site lets you save or print are free for personal use: you may keep them and share them. You may not sell them or use them for any commercial purpose.

9. Our content

Unless we say otherwise, the words, pictures, patterns and designs on the site were made by or for Periodica. You are welcome to read them, share links to them, and quote short passages with credit to Periodica. For any other use, please ask us first. Please do not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or anything you offer.

AI tools help us research, draft, design pages and make images. The Editor reads and approves everything we write. A page that shows pictures made with AI carries one line that says so: "Images on this page are staged by Periodica's AI set designers · AI-generated." These pictures are illustrations, not photographs of real places, people or products. Our Privacy Policy lists what we never put into AI tools.

10. Using the site fairly

When you use the site, please do not:

• break the law, or help anyone else to;
• send false or automated requests, spam, unlawful content or anyone else's personal information, in a request, a message or a note;
• harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
• try to break into, overload or disrupt the site, or copy it in bulk by automated means.

We may block requests, messages, notes or access that break these terms.

11. Links to other sites

We link to our sources, to our social media accounts and to other sites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices; their own terms and privacy policies apply.

12. Availability and changes to the site

We work to keep the site available and accurate, but we cannot promise that it will always be available, complete or error-free. We may change, pause or remove any part of it.

13. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer protection law, or any responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss or damage that results from using the site or from relying on its general information.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example before the shop opens. We will post the new version here with its date, and it applies from that date. If a change is important, we will also say so on the site and in the newsletter.

15. Law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live elsewhere in Canada, you keep the protections that the consumer laws of your province give you.

16. General

If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
